Mepiform Film Dressings are designed for treating both old and new hyper-trophic and keloid scars. It features a patented Safetac silicone layer on the side that contacts the wound, which has been shown to have a beneficial impact on scar tissue. Treatment duration typically ranges from 3 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the condition.
The back of the dressing is constructed from a non-woven fabric with polyurethane, providing both liquid and vapour permeability. Safetac technology ensures that the silicone layer does not adhere to moist wound surfaces, minimising pain and trauma during dressing changes even in challenging cases where wound fluid may become sticky or dry. This soft silicone dressing is gentle on the surrounding skin, offering secure fixation without causing damage upon removal, preserving the integrity of the skin through multiple changes and making the process nearly pain-free.
